Europe looks to Berlin for the phasing out of the internal combustion engine

On Tuesday, the EU Environment Council is to decide on the position of the 27 member states on fleet limits. The FDP ministers have just reignited the debate about phasing out internal combustion vehicles in 2035 in this country, even though it had actually ended long ago. This could have an impact on the voting behavior of other member states.

Nature conservation package: agriculture and forestry see red

The director of the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies, Mario Holzner, warns against further stalling the candidate countries in the Western Balkans. The EU must act to push back geopolitical rivals such as China and Russia, he said in an interview with Hans-Peter Siebenhaar. Therefore, the states should be given access to the single market ahead of accession.
